Sleep appliances have been touted as a significant growth opportunity for laboratories. How many dentists are offering sleep treatment? IDT's sister publication Inside Dentistry surveyed 236 general practitioners about how many patients they treat for sleep disorders each month. Forty percent said they offer at least some sleep treatment services, with 5% treating more than five patients for sleep disorders each month.
Notably, 42% of dentists surveyed who have been practicing for more than 20 years offer sleep treatment, while only 37% of dentists practicing for 20 or fewer years offer it. Additionally, 58.1% of West Coast dentists surveyed offer sleep treatment, while in the Northeast, Upper Midwest, and Lower Midwest combined, only 31% offer it.
