Inside Dental Technology delivers updates on digital workflows, materials, lab techniques, and innovation in dental technology through expert articles and videos.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are providing new tools for dental professionals to provide better patient care. Following is a snapshot of these technologies.
Scan Clarity Score and Smart Margin
Pearl
Pearl is ushering in a new wave of AI-powered dentistry tools: Scan Clarity Score to rank and bucket each patient scan based on margin clarity, and Smart Margin to instantly execute margin marking.
Yomi
Neocis
The FDA-cleared Neocis Yomi® robot-assisted surgery system is designed to help clinicians achieve proper implant placement. Using haptic guidance and multisensory feedback, Yomi precisely guides clinicians to achieve the right location, angulation, and depth for placing dental implants perfectly, with real-time visual feedback displayed on the surgical CT planning software.
TRIOS 4
3Shape
Among many other features, the TRIOS 4 incudes built-in fluorescent technology to aid in the identification of possible surface caries, and later this year it will have a dedicated transillumination smart tip to aid in the identification of possible interproximal caries undetectable to the eye, without emitting radiation. 3Shape says this is the first launch within its new smart tip platform.
IvoSmile
Ivoclar Vivadent
IvoSmile™, developed by Kapanu-the augmented reality (AR) technology specialist of the Ivoclar Vivadent Group-uses AR to visualize esthetic treatments in real time, allowing for active patient participation during the consultation process. The software application will also expand into orthodontic and restorative treatments through a collaboration with 3Shape.
DEXvoice
Simplifeye
DEXvoice allows dentists to leverage the power of their voices to increase efficiency, with no need to turn to the keyboard. DEXvoice syncs seamlessly with DEXIS, making it easy to implement in a practice. Dentists can easily pull up patient records, x-rays, charts, and other information-all with their voice.
