Scanning Technology Product Showcase
Inside Dental Technology delivers updates on digital workflows, materials, lab techniques, and innovation in dental technology through expert articles and videos.
The latest intraoral and desktop scanning solutions are providing new and improved capabilities to the entire restorative dental team. Following is a snapshot of these technologies.
3Shape
The E4 laboratory scanner boasts double the speed, double the accuracy, and double as many cameras as its predecessor the E3, delivering improved efficiency and consistency with every scan for laboratories of all sizes. Scanning a full arch takes just 11 seconds. Scan with an accuracy of 4 μm (ISO 12836). Four 5-MP cameras save time by scanning dies in the model instead of individually.
Dentsply Sirona
With its patent-pending digital impressioning technology, Primescan enables high-precision digital impressions to be taken of the entire jaw. Validated interfaces noticeably simplify the process, offering flexibility. The scan of tooth surfaces is done with high-resolution sensors and short-wave light, capturing up to 1 million 3D data points per second. With optical high-frequency contrast analysis, the data can now be calculated more accurately than ever.
Align Technology
In addition to all of the features and functionality of the iTero Element 2 scanner, the iTero Element 5D is the first integrated dental imaging system that simultaneously records 3D intraoral color and NIRI images, and enables comparison over time using iTero TimeLapse. The integrated 3D intraoral color and NIRI technology aid in detection and monitoring of interproximal caries lesions above the gingiva.
Planmeca
The Planmeca Emerald™ is an ultra-lightweight, ergonomically designed intraoral scanner that quickly delivers images with superior accuracy and detail. A streamlined, compact design provides a comfortable feel and superior control. Deliberately designed for increased patient safety, autoclavable seamless scanner tips prevent cross-infection while encouraging continuous scanning.
