Pearl has announced the launch of Imagecheck, an artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to assess the quality of dental radiographs in real time. According to the company, the system integrates into clinical imaging workflows to provide automated feedback on 2D dental X-rays at the point of capture.
The company stated that Imagecheck uses computer vision to detect common radiographic errors, including cone cuts, overexposure, underexposure, excessive overlap, missing root tips, blurriness, and angulation issues. When errors are identified, the system generates visual alerts and overlays, allowing staff to retake images before the patient leaves the chair.
According to the company, Imagecheck is intended to help dental teams improve image quality, reduce retakes, lower radiation exposure for patients, and increase efficiency. The system also supports compliance and documentation standards by helping ensure images meet diagnostic and regulatory requirements.
“Radiographs are a foundation of diagnosis, treatment, and reimbursement in dentistry,” said Ophir Tanz, CEO of Pearl. “With Imagecheck, we’re closing a critical gap in the imaging workflow by ensuring that every X-ray captured is clinically sound. This translates directly to better care, stronger patient trust, fewer claim denials, and improved efficiency across the dental practice.”
The company said that improving radiographic quality also has financial implications. Poor-quality images may result in claim denials, and Imagecheck aims to reduce this risk by improving the diagnostic standard of submitted radiographs.
Beyond real-time image review, Imagecheck offers reporting features that allow practices to benchmark imaging performance across providers, offices, or organizations. According to Pearl, this functionality is designed to support staff training, standardize image capture, and reduce variability, particularly in high-turnover environments such as dental service organizations (DSOs) and dental schools.
Imagecheck is currently offered as an add-on feature for Pearl’s Second Opinion platform and will also be integrated with selected imaging and practice management systems. According to the company, Pearl holds regulatory clearance in more than 120 countries, making Imagecheck available to practices, DSOs, and educational institutions worldwide.
Pearl, founded in 2019, develops AI-driven technology for dental diagnostics and practice performance. The company introduced the first FDA-cleared AI solution for interpreting dental X-rays and states that its tools are designed to assist in clinical decision-making and communication.
