Dr. Sulman Ahmed, Founder and CEO of DECA Dental Group, has announced the launch of ToothScience™, an oral wellness initiative developed by clinicians with the goal of advancing standards in over-the-counter oral care.
The concept for ToothScience originated from a routine clinical interaction. Following a pediatric exam, a parent asked Dr. Ahmed whether the toothpaste sample provided was truly the best option for her child. The question remained with him and later resurfaced when, as a parent himself, he observed his daughter using toothpaste that appeared more appealing than effective.
“As both a dentist and a dad, I realized I couldn't justify many of the ingredients I was seeing,” said Ahmed. “We'd never accept this in our food, skincare, or other wellness products. So why were we settling in oral care?”
In response, Dr. Ahmed collaborated with scientists, formulators, and fellow clinicians over a three-year period to develop ToothScience—a line of oral care products designed to align more closely with current clinical knowledge and patient expectations regarding ingredient safety and efficacy.
The formulations are centered around well-documented, evidence-based ingredients and intentionally exclude additives commonly questioned by patients, such as artificial dyes, alcohol, parabens, and certain sweeteners. The products are also dye-free, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO.
At launch, the product line includes three toothpaste variants: Daily Care, Kids Care, and Sensitivity. These are intended as the foundation of a broader oral wellness platform focused on "Whole Mouth Health," a concept integrating daily home care with an understanding of oral-systemic health relationships. Additional product developments are underway.
