VideaHealth, based in Boston, Massachusetts, has introduced Voice Notes, an AI-powered ambient scribe designed for dental practices. According to the company, the technology captures conversations between dentists and patients to generate clinical documentation automatically, reducing manual charting and saving time.
“Every hour spent writing clinical notes, whether during appointments or late at night, is time pulled away from patient care and a leading cause of burnout,” said Florian Hillen, CEO and founder of VideaHealth. “That burden has been accepted as part of the job for too long, even as dentistry becomes more data-driven and demanding. Voice Notes pioneers a new level of intelligence in dentistry, automating documentation through ambient AI, ultimately strengthening clinical records and restoring the patient connection at the heart of dentistry.”
Built on the company’s VideaAI platform, which has been trained on more than one billion dental images, Voice Notes extends the platform’s capabilities from visual diagnostics to conversational documentation. According to the company, the system captures relevant details through ambient listening, filters out unrelated speech, and organizes information into complaint, findings, assessment, and treatment plan categories. It can record multi-speaker conversations using Smart Ambient Mode, capture free-form speech in Quick Dictation Mode, adapt templates to match provider preferences, and integrate with practice management systems for one-click or batch reviews.
VideaHealth reported that Voice Notes can save more than 10 hours per provider each week by removing the need for manual note entry. The company stated that the tool can increase annual revenue by up to $117,000 per dentist, achieve 95 percent note completion on first pass, and improve patient interactions by reducing screen time during appointments.
According to the company, Voice Notes is HIPAA-compliant and gives providers full control over when the system listens, with click-to-activate consent, encrypted data storage, and defensible documentation processes.
“This launch is the first step in building an intelligent dental ecosystem that links diagnosis, documentation, and delivery in one continuous workflow,” Hillen added. “There are clear synergies between our FDA-cleared Clinical Assist and Voice Notes, which together lay the groundwork for more comprehensive, connected documentation. It’s another way we’re helping clinicians create stronger, evidence-based records for insurance and audits without adding extra steps to their day.”
Voice Notes is available as a standalone product or as part of VideaAI Clinical Assist, which combines imaging and documentation features in a single platform.
VideaHealth develops AI-based solutions that support diagnostics, workflow optimization, and analytics for dental professionals. Its technology is used by more than 50,000 clinicians across more than 50 dental service organizations, analyzing over 500 million X-rays annually.
