CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, a national nonprofit organization focused on improving access, equity, and integration within the oral health system, has announced a partnership with Innovaccer to integrate medical and dental data. The effort is intended to support clinicians, payers, and policymakers in examining the relationship between oral health and overall health outcomes.
Although evidence continues to demonstrate associations between oral health and systemic conditions—including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, pregnancy outcomes, and overall well-being—medical and dental data systems often remain separate. This separation limits visibility across the full continuum of care and can constrain opportunities for earlier intervention, coordinated management, and improved outcomes.
As part of the collaboration, the organizations will link medical and dental claims and clinical datasets using Innovaccer’s Humbi platform. The integration is designed to create a longitudinal view of patient health, enabling analysis of how oral health status and dental interventions may influence broader health outcomes and total cost of care. The initiative will also examine how integrated data may inform care coordination strategies and person-centered delivery models.
“Oral health is an essential part of overall health, yet our systems and data have long treated it as separate,” said Wade Rakes, Chief Executive Officer at CareQuest Institute. “By partnering with Innovaccer to integrate medical and dental data, we’re working to better understand patient journeys across the health system and help advance care models that reflect the reality that oral health and overall health are deeply connected.”
“True integration is what enables autonomous health care, systems that don’t just store data, but actively surface insights and coordinate action across the care continuum,” said Abhinav Shashank, cofounder and CEO of Innovaccer. “CareQuest Institute brings deep expertise and credibility in advancing oral health equity, and together we’re building the data foundation needed to connect medical and dental care in a way that improves outcomes, reduces cost, and reflects how care actually happens in people’s lives.”
The partnership aligns with CareQuest Institute’s ongoing work to advance oral health equity and strengthen the health care system through research, data infrastructure, and cross-sector collaboration.
