Three dental industry organizations—DENTALEZ, UptimeHealth, and Darby Dental Supply—have announced the launch of TotalOp, a subscription-based operatory equipment and support model designed for dental practices and dental service organizations (DSOs).
TotalOp provides access to operatory chairs, compressors, vacuum systems, handpieces, and related dental equipment under a single monthly fee structure. The model is intended to support practices seeking alternatives to traditional capital equipment purchases, with an emphasis on predictable budgeting and ongoing equipment support.
In addition to physical equipment, the program incorporates preventive maintenance, repair services, and monitoring software designed to track equipment performance and support proactive service scheduling. The offering integrates Aeras predictive technology from DENTALEZ, providing real-time equipment status updates, maintenance notifications, and predictive failure alerts to both users and service providers. The stated goal is to reduce unexpected repairs and minimize operatory downtime through earlier intervention.
The model also includes UptimeHealth’s asset management software platform and support services. According to the companies, this includes onboarding and training, repair coordination, maintenance oversight, and enterprise-level asset management capabilities intended to provide visibility across clinical equipment inventories.
“With TotalOp, dental practices can get the equipment, technology, and software they need with minimal capital outlay while avoiding unexpected downtime and repair costs that can impact their P&L,” said Frank Massino, President, Darby Group Companies. “TotalOp’s smart subscription service complement’s Darby’s growing equipment division and commitment to making our customers’ lives easier and practices more profitable. This ground-breaking partnership enables dental practices to focus on their patients, and their business while Darby, DENTALEZ, and UptimeHealth ensure the equipment they need keeps running.”
“It’s high time that forward thinking companies in dental collaborate to provide solutions to the real challenges faced in dentistry every day,” said Heather Trombley, President, DENTALEZ. “This collaboration of leading companies removes risk to the dental office and places it in the hands of a partnership that is better suited to respond – no unplanned expenses for the offices and no capital upfront.”
The subscription structure is designed to provide a single, recurring monthly payment intended to support cost forecasting while enabling access to updated operatory equipment configurations.
TotalOp expands Darby’s broader portfolio of equipment, technology, and operational support services, which includes Darby Dispatch, Powered by UptimeHealth; Darby TechForce; onDiem’s dental staffing services; and Method’s e-procurement platform. According to the organizations involved, the initiative reflects continued investment in service models aimed at addressing operational and financial challenges faced by contemporary dental practices.
