Dentsply Sirona announced the launch of the Atlantis Abutment Milling Service on the DS Core platform, expanding its digital offerings for dental laboratories. The service will make its debut at LMT LAB DAY West 2026, scheduled for May 15 to 16 in Garden Grove, California, and is expected to be available in the U.S. market in June.
The Atlantis Abutment Milling Service is intended to provide dental laboratories with increased flexibility and efficiency. Laboratories can design abutments in the 3Shape Dental System based on clinical requirements and customer preferences, then submit cases through DS Core using an ordering process described by the company as intuitive and user-friendly. Dentsply Sirona then mills the lab-designed abutment at its facilities and ships the product within two business days.
According to the company, the workflow includes a turnaround time in which abutments are shipped within two business days, with over 98% on-time shipping based on internal data; more than 25 years of experience in patient-specific abutment manufacturing supported by a warranty; and compatibility with major implant systems.
According to the company, Atlantis has been used in patient-specific abutment solutions since 1999, with more than 5 million cases delivered globally. The milling service builds on that history by providing laboratories with access to the Atlantis system while integrating digital workflow processes. The service is designed to support laboratory operations and may also affect clinical workflows by enabling faster turnaround times, allowing clinicians to move forward with treatment steps more quickly and potentially reducing waiting periods for patients.
