Willi Geller, an influential name in the esthetic dentistry industry, passed away on December 12, 2024, after a short illness. He leaves behind a legacy as a master ceramist and dental technician as well as a respected mentor and educator.
Geller was born in Germany in 1940 and started out as a woodcut textile printmaker before becoming a leader in ceramic material use in dentistry as well as a sought-after lecturer. He started his company Oral Design in 1982. Oral Design, which is based in Zurich, Switzerland, is an elite, international organization of more than 130 skilled professionals focused on cosmetic dentistry.
He also started Creation in 1988 to sell his line of ceramic materials more closely matching natural teeth, among other innovations in esthetic dentistry and dental technology. Geller is also known for revolutionizing such dental restoration techniques as the use of platinum foil and the Geller cutback method.
Many well-known dental technicians looked to Geller as a mentor and referred to him as “Maestro” or “Master.” He shared his knowledge and artistry with a generation of technicians, ensuring his influence will endure for years to come.
